Summary:

In this episode I speak to Sean Croxton about his experience with anxiety. We also get into a discussion around mindset, shifting the paradigm and being polarizing amongst other things

Seans Bio (written by Sean):

I am SUCH a nerd.

I like to hang around my house and read books. In fact, I order them much faster than I can consume them. Thanks, Amazon…

I happened to like reading so much that I thought it would be a good idea to start interviewing the authors. That’s when I launched my first podcast, Underground Wellness Radio, way back in 2008, when no one really knew what a podcast was.

Oh, wait. The podcast came second. In 2007, I launched a YouTube channel about health. Basically, I took really complicated matters of health and made them easy for my viewers to understand. It was an instant hit. Probably, in part, because there weren’t many health channels on YouTube back then. But also because I brought some “edu-tainment” to a space dominated by jargon the average person couldn’t quite understand.

Anyway, back to the podcast. Underground Wellness Radio ran for 7 years, with 348 episodes about all things real food and functional medicine, with a sprinkle of personal development on the side.

In late 2015, I decided to close up shop at Underground Wellness. It was time for something new — to turn things upside down, to talk and write about personal development with a sprinkle of health on the side.

At the time of this writing, my new podcast, The Sessions with Sean Croxton, has just debuted. Back to the beginning. I’m excited for what’s to come.

- How Sean was always quiet and had to build up the courage to talk to people when suffering with social anxiety

- How Sean had his first panic attack while doing some personal training

- What Sean's experience was like with medication

- How the social anxiety isn't completely gone and Sean's ok with that

- What Sean's motivational influences were

- How we have the power to choose what we're going to accept and reject

- You're either moving forwards or moving backwards, there is no standing still

- How Sean went through a paradigm shift

- "In order to change your life, you have to change yourself"

- How to be unapologetically you

Summary

In this episode I talk about the 3 C's and how you can start using them today.

What do I do when my Anxiety Shows up?

Curiosity, Courage & Compassion.

Do the 3 C's

Write the 3 c's on your hand in the morning when your doing your journaling as a reminder.

It's essentially how I ask people to respond to anxiety when it shows up.

CURIOSITY

i.e. what's the message here ? Am I safe ? I wonder why it's here ? This engages your pre frontal cortex.  Anxiety is kicked off by your croc brain (amygdala) and this allows us to pattern interrupt and bring a question to the table.

This breaks the fear cycle.

COURAGE

Be prepared to feel the feelings and be uncomfortable until it passes.  Get to know your anxiety, embrace it.

COMPASSION

Anxiety sufferers are amazing at beating the shit out of themselves with guilt, shame, worry and embarrassment.

Realize it's not your fault, be gentle on yourself.  And let it pass.

In this episode I will answer a listeners question.

This weeks question:

"I have committed to overcoming my anxiety and working on myself and doing whatever it takes to have less anxiety in my life in the future.  However, my friend also has pretty severe anxiety and I speak to them on the phone regularly and listening to them complain about their anxiety upsets me.  I've make numerous suggestions but they are unwilling to do any of the work required to improve and just want to complain to me about it.  What do I do?"

Summary

In this episode I share my vision for changing the way people with Anxiety are treated.

My Vision is:

A world where everyone has the necessary tools, information and support to overcome Anxiety.

To empower people to avoid the default of just taking medication/ drugs, which often just make things worse.

To let everyone know they are not weird, broken or damaged, they are just human. Everyone struggles.

That the answer we search for externally is ALWAYS within us and alignment to our truth is the solution.

That a bigger life is waiting for you on the other side of courage.

You are enough.

You are not alone.
